Local evidence
Proof, not hype.
BearBarrier is a new local brand. That means we have real design and fabrication evidence to show you, and no customer history to exaggerate. Both of those things are on this page.
The local situation
Why this product exists here
Across the Elk Valley and East Kootenay, residents are regularly asked to keep attractants secured. Household garbage is the most consistent attractant on a residential street, and a wheeled cart is the least secure place it can sit.
The gap is practical rather than attitudinal. Most people are willing to secure their waste. They just do not have a garage, a shed, or any indoor space to put a cart in, so the cart lives outside and the problem repeats every collection cycle.
A bear that finds food once has a reason to come back. Repeat visits are how a wildlife sighting turns into a wildlife conflict, and conflicts rarely end well for the animal. Securing the attractant is the part of that chain a property owner can actually control.
Report a wildlife conflict
The BC Conservation Officer Service RAPP line takes reports of wildlife in conflict, 24 hours a day.

Claims policy
The words we use, and the words we refuse
Overstating a wildlife product is easy and it destroys credibility the first time something fails. We would rather be specific.
We will not say
- Bearproof
- Guaranteed to stop every bear
- Municipality approved
- Certified
- Scientifically proven
None of these are true until documentation exists. If we ever complete recognised product testing, the results and the testing body will be published on this page.
We will say
- Bear-resistant
- Designed to reduce access
- Built to secure carts
- Engineered for wildlife-conflict prevention
These describe what the product is engineered to do: secure the whole cart, resist tipping and dragging, and remove the easy food reward that keeps wildlife returning to a property.
Reviews and testimonials
Prototype installations opening soon.
There are no customer reviews on this site because there are no customers to quote yet. Rather than publish placeholder testimonials, we are selecting a small group of pilot installations across the Elk Valley and East Kootenay. Pilot sites get a reduced prototype price in exchange for photography, a feedback interview, and permission to document how the unit performs.
Final word
Bears are here. Let's keep them wild.
Secure your garbage, protect your property, and reduce wildlife conflict with a locally built BearBarrier system.
