Community record

Community guidelines

The map exists so neighbours can see patterns. It is not a tip line, a court record, or a place to settle scores.

What belongs here

  • Bear sightings in residential areas
  • Garbage, compost, or attractant access
  • Doorbell or camera captures of bears
  • Property damage and livestock or pet concerns
  • What you did about it, and what happened next

What does not get published

  • Street addresses, house numbers, or lot identifiers
  • Names of neighbours, or complaints about them
  • Photos showing people, licence plates, or house numbers
  • Anything that is not a wildlife incident
  • Harassment, spam, or advertising

Location privacy

Every pin is snapped to a ~300 metre grid before it is published. Reports inside the same cell share the same public point, so pins cannot be averaged to recover an address. Exact coordinates stay staff-only.

Accounts and anonymity

You can report without an account; those submissions wait for moderation. Signed-in residents publish immediately. Comments and chat require an account so abuse has a cost.

Emergencies

If a bear is in conflict with people, pets, or property right now, call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277. Do not wait on this map.
